Small Groups

Try Scuba Diving with Living Ocean Scuba under the close supervision of an experienced Scuba Instructor. Groups are kept small, with a maximum of four divers per instructor to make sure that you get the attention that you deserve.

Thorough Safety Briefing

First time divers will be given a thorough safety briefing which covers equipment use, skills to be practiced once in the water, and how to interact with the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, Schools of Reef Fish, Coral Reef, and other marine species that we will see during the introductory scuba diving experience.

Breathing Underwater for the First Time

Once divers have entered the water they will practice using the equipment on the surface until they are comfortable and excited to try Scuba diving! After you are a few feet below the surface you will practice some basic safety skills with the instructor, then head out to explore the underwater world!


Open Water Diver/Junior Open Water Diver

After completing this three day entry level course, you will be a certified SCUBA Diver for life! The Open Water Diver course consists of training in shallow/calm water, four open water dives in the ocean where you will get to explore the beauty of Hawaii’s ocean, as well as knowledge development.

The confined water and knowledge development portions of this course are conducted at Magic Island near Ala Moana Beach Park. Open Water dives are conducted from both shore and boat depending on your preference to give you the best experience possible in different diving situations (as well as let you enjoy different dive sites around the island).

Course Curriculum

Three Day Courses Available (with PADI eLearning)

All of our PADI Open Water courses are a minimum of 3 days and require PADI eLearning to be completed prior to the start of the course. This gives us the time to give you the training that you will need to be a safe and comfortable diver! Contact us to check our availability during your stay.

Confined Water Training

While in shallow protected water and under the direction of a scuba instructor you will learn all of the skills necessary to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver. These skill will help you enjoy your dives and keep you safe while under the surface.

Four Open Water Dives

You will go on four open water dives to a maximum of 60ft during the certification course. While exploring the coral reef of Oahu we find sea turtles, octopus, eels, reef fish and more

Knowledge Development

This portion of the course includes reading the PADI Open Water Scuba Diver Manual, completing 5 knowledge reviews, quizzes and a final exam. Your scuba instructor will help you through all of the material and make sure you understand all of the information you need to pass with flying colors.

You can also take your course online through PADI eLearning. You can complete all of the bookwork online from the comfort of your home and not waste any of your time in Hawaii! With PADI eLearning you can complete your course in as little as 2 days.

Adventure Diver/Advanced Open Water Diver

Become a PADI Adventure Diver by completing three adventure dives such as Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Search and Recovery Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Photography, Underwater Navigator, or choose from many others. Compete five adventure dives, including Underwater Navigator and Deep Diver, to earn your PADI Advanced Open Water certification. Each adventure dive that you complete will count as the first dive of that Specialty Certification! We offer Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver Courses for divers participating in our two-tank boat diving tours. Just purchase your book and pay the $25 certificaiton processing fee and we’ll include all instruction free of charge!

Rescue Diver

Padi’s Rescue Diver course will help you become a safer diver as well as teach you how to assist you buddy in the case of an emergency. In this three-day course you will work on in water rescue skills, study the proper ways to assess a potentially dangerous situation and resolve it in a calm manner, as well as become certified in first aid and CPR.

Specialty Certifications

Complete multiple dives covering a specific area such as Enriched Air, Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Search and Recovery Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Photography, Underwater Navigator. Complete five specialties and become a Master Scuba Diver.
